Modirum Defence Consultancy is actively recruiting experienced personnel transitioning from the Armed Forces or who have recently completed their service. We are looking for experienced Ex-Military professionals with recent experience in Command Information Systems (CIS) and expertise in solution development and integration at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.

 

Join our team as Defence Consultant!

As a Defence Consultant, you will play a critical role in advising and supporting defence organisations in designing, implementing, and optimizing their CIS solutions. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing military capabilities, improving situational awareness, and ensuring effective decision-making across various defence operations.

Responsibilities

  1. System Analysis and Design:
    • Collaborate with defence clients to assess existing CIS systems, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
    • Design and architect CIS solutions that align with operational requirements, security protocols, and interoperability standards.
    • Evaluate hardware, software, and network components for integration into CIS systems.
  2. Technical Consultation:
    • Provide expert advice on CIS technologies, protocols, and best practices.
    • Assist in selecting appropriate communication protocols, encryption methods, and data exchange formats.
    • Address technical challenges related to system scalability, redundancy, and resilience.
  3. Project Management
    • Lead or participate in CIS system implementation projects.
    • Define project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and military personnel.
  4. Security and Cyber Defence
    • Assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks associated with CIS systems.
    • Implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
    • Stay informed about emerging security threats and recommend countermeasures.
  5. Training and Documentation
    • Develop training materials and conduct workshops for military personnel on CIS system usage.
    • Create technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  6. Vendor Relations
    • Collaborate with CIS technology vendors to evaluate products, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements.

Specific Desirable Experience

  • Deep technical understanding of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I), Command and Control (C2), and Battle Management Systems (BMS), including BOWMAN, ComBat, FC Bisa, GBSD Bisa, and simulated and mobile training platforms.
  • Expertise in Command-and-Control (C2), military messaging, and Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions.
  • Demonstrable expertise in Programme and Project management.
  • Proven skills in solution integration at tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
  • Proficient in developing and reviewing technical documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Ability to develop and deliver clear solutions to complex challenges.
  • Expertise in providing insightful advice, delivering clear and concise briefings, and presenting effectively to senior Industry and Ministry of Defence (MOD) personnel.
  • Skills in distilling complex technical concepts into clear and concise deliverables.
  • Developing technical documentation enhancing professional C4I and CIS knowledge for both UK and coalition partners. Proficient in producing and analysing technical documentation to maintain top-tier standards in CIS operations.
  • Extensive project and programme experience, excelling in scoping and delivering outcomes.
  • Strong customer-facing skills, fostering strong connections through inclusive leadership and effective communication.
  • Commitment to coaching and mentoring, fostering the professional development of team members and peers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in defence or military environments, preferably with exposure to CIS systems.
  • Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.), encryption methods, and communication standards.
  • Knowledge of military command structures, operational procedures, and mission-critical requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Security – SC Clearance is a minimum requirement.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science would be an advantage but not mandatory.
